God Alone is Worthy of Worship
“He shames every idol” points to God’s supremacy over all false gods. Scripture reveals that idols are powerless and that God alone deserves worship. Isaiah 42:8 says, “I am Yahweh. That is my name. I will not give my glory to another, nor my praise to engraved images.” This affirms that only Jehovah is worthy of glory.
“He reigns without rival” reflects the truth that God is sovereign and unmatched in authority. Isaiah 45:5 declares, “I am Yahweh, and there is no one else. Besides me, there is no God.” His rule is supreme and unchallenged.
“Jehovah Nissi fight your battles” refers to one of God’s revealed names meaning “The Lord is My Banner,” found in Exodus 17:15. It affirms that God is actively involved in defending His people.
“Jehovah Jireh meet your need” recalls Genesis 22:14, where God provided a ram for Abraham. It teaches that God is our provider.
“Jehovah Rapha heal your body” is based on Exodus 15:26, where God is called “the Lord who heals you.”
“Jehovah Shalom be your peace” reflects Judges 6:24, where Gideon names the altar “The Lord is Peace.”
