Altar Call is a worship song centered on surrender, repentance, and the all-sufficient sacrifice of Jesus. It invites believers to lay down their lives at the altar, reflecting the heart’s response to God’s kindness and the power of the cross.
VERSE 1
I hear the voice of my Father, Your kindness is calling
Me to repentance again, I see the scars of my Savior
The ransom You paid for to save me to call me Your friend
I know at the cross You gave it all
I know at the cross You paid it all
CHORUS
Here’s my life I lay it at the altar
You are worthy of it, You are worthy of it
No turning back Jesus now I surrender
My heart, my soul, my all
You can have my heart, my soul, my all
VERSE 2
I know my past found it’s ending
Salvation’s beginning
This moment is only the start
I feel the power of Your Spirit
Your grace without limit
As I draw near to Your heart
I know at the cross You gave it all
I know at the cross You paid it all
BRIDGE
I’ll answer Your call and, I’ll take up my cross
Now and always, now and always
My Savior, my Lord, I’ll forever adore
Now and always, now and always

God’s Kindness Leads to Repentance
“I hear the voice of my Father” reflects the gentle call of God that leads us to repentance. Romans 2:4 reminds us that it is the kindness of God that leads us to repentance, confirming the idea that God’s invitation is rooted in love.
“Your kindness is calling me to repentance again” expresses a return to humility and brokenness before God. This aligns with Joel 2:13, which says, “Rend your heart and not your garments…return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and merciful.”
“I know at the cross You gave it all” centers on Christ’s full sacrifice. Ephesians 5:2 says that Christ “gave Himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”
“Here’s my life I lay it at the altar” speaks of complete surrender. Romans 12:1 calls believers to offer their bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God.
The song aligns well with biblical teachings, emphasizing the cost of following Jesus, the sufficiency of the cross, and our response in surrender and obedience.
