The Lamb’s Book of Life is a worship song that celebrates the undeserved mercy of Jesus, His victorious resurrection, and our eternal security through His name. With lyrics declaring salvation by grace, Christ’s triumph over death, and the promise of heaven, it centers on gospel truth.
VERSE 1
Oh what mercy, undeserved
Flowing freely from the cross
Oh what grace I could not earn
For my sin the highest cost
Not by merit, not by might
Only by the blood of Christ
My name is written in
The Lamb’s book of life
CHORUS
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, What a Savior, What a Savior
VERSE 2
Oh what victory, risen King
Robbed the grave and took the keys
Oh now death where is your sting
Darkness has no grip on me
Though the devil schemes and tries
There’s no power in his lies
My name is written in
The Lamb’s book of life
CHORUS
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, What a Savior, What a Savior
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Hallelujah, What a Savior, What a Savior
BRIDGE
Only one Way
We can be saved
Oh it’s Jesus
Oh it’s Jesus
Only one Name
Worthy of praise
Oh it’s Jesus
Oh it’s Jesus
VERSE 3
Oh what Glory, to behold
When I gaze upon the throne
All the saints who’ve gone before
Lay their crowns on heavens floor
At the feet of Jesus Christ
I will worship and delight
For my name is written in
My name is written in
My name is written in
The Lamb’s book of life
TAG
Oh It’s Jesus
Oh It’s Jesus
Oh It’s Jesus
Oh It’s Jesus

Salvation Through Christ Alone
“Oh what mercy, undeserved” highlights the foundational Christian belief that salvation is a gift from God, not earned by human effort. Ephesians 2:4-5 says, “But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ.” This mercy flows “freely from the cross,” emphasizing the cross as the source of grace (Romans 5:8).
“Only by the blood of Christ / My name is written in the Lamb’s book of life” affirms that redemption comes solely through Jesus’ sacrifice. Revelation 21:27 refers to those “written in the Lamb’s book of life” as those who will enter God’s eternal kingdom. This aligns with Hebrews 9:22, which states, “Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.”
“Robbed the grave and took the keys” refers to Jesus’ resurrection and authority over death, echoing Revelation 1:18: “I hold the keys of death and Hades.”
“Only one Way / We can be saved / Oh it’s Jesus” reflects John 14:6 where Jesus says, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
