Magdiwang (Musikatha)

Magdiwang is a joyful Filipino worship song that celebrates the unmatched kapangyarihan (power), kadakilaan (greatness), and katapatan (faithfulness) of Jesus. It calls every believer to respond with wholehearted praise and celebration, lifting up the name of Jesus in worship.

VERSE

Magdiwang, atin Siyang awitan
Magdiwang, itaas kanyang pangalan
Magdiwang, buong puso’t kalakasan
Ating Siyang alayan
Luwalhati kailanman

CHORUS 2
Magdiwang, sa sayaw at tugtugan
Magdiwang, sa awit at sigawan
Magdiwang sa tunog ng kagalakan
Magdiwang buong puso’t kalakasan
Ating Siyang alayan
Luwalhati kailanman

God’s Power and Greatness

“Sino’ng hihigit sa ‘yong kapangyarihan” affirms God’s supreme power. This reflects the truth in Jeremiah 10:6, “There is none like You, O Lord; You are great, and Your name is great in might.” It acknowledges that no one and nothing surpasses God’s authority.

“Sino’ng papantay sa ‘yong kadakilaan” emphasizes God’s unmatched greatness. Psalm 145:3 says, “Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; His greatness is unsearchable,” supporting this declaration of God’s majesty.

“Sa buhay ko’y tunay na naranasan ang ‘yong katapatan” expresses a personal testimony of God’s faithfulness. This echoes Lamentations 3:22–23, which declares, “Great is Your faithfulness.”

“Pagpapala Mo saki’y hindi ko na mabilang” refers to the countless blessings from God. Psalm 40:5 affirms, “Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders which You have done… they are more than can be counted.”

“Magdiwang… itaas Kanyang pangalan” is a call to joyful worship and exaltation. This is consistent with Psalm 34:3, “Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.”
