The Power of the Gospel

“This is the good news” presents the song’s central message, which echoes the biblical gospel—the good news that Jesus Christ died and rose again to offer salvation (1 Corinthians 15:1–4). The phrase points to the core of Christian faith: hope, redemption, and new life in Christ. This is supported by Romans 1:16, which declares, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.”

“An empty grave to a life that’s changed” reflects the resurrection of Jesus and its transformative power. The empty tomb symbolizes victory over sin and death (Luke 24:6–7), and a changed life is promised to those who trust in Him (2 Corinthians 5:17).

“Jesus loves you” anchors the entire song in God’s personal love for each individual. This is clearly affirmed in John 3:16 and Romans 5:8, which show that Christ’s sacrifice was motivated by love even while we were still sinners.

“No matter your unbelief… He’s in love with you” points to God’s persistent love, aligning with Romans 5:6 and 2 Timothy 2:13. However, Scripture also calls for a response of faith (John 3:18), so while God’s love is constant, salvation is received through belief.
