Praise The Lord (Bethel Music)

Praise The Lord Music declares the power of praise to overcome darkness, the enduring hope in Jesus, and the victory of the cross. With themes of spiritual warfare, anchoring faith, and resurrection, it celebrates worship as a battle cry and a testimony of Christ’s triumph.

VERSE 1
There is a sound that makes the darkness flee
That overwhelms the enemy
There is a song that leads to victory

TAG 1
It rises up inside of me
It rises up inside of me

CHORUS
Praise the Lord, oh my soul
All that is within me praise the Lord

VERSE 2
This is my rebel cry against the storm
In crashing waves, when oceans roar
My anchor holds me and my hope endures
In the face of fear, when the weapons form
I will lift my voice and sing out all the more

BRIDGE 1
I’ll sing it on the mountain top
I’ll sing it in the valley low
I’ll sing it like I’m waging war
Against the walls of Jericho

BRIDGE 2
I’ll sing it for the rugged cross
I’ll sing it for the empty grave
I’ll sing it for the One who rose
From death to life will come again

TAG 2
All that is within me praise the Lord

Power in Praise

“There is a sound that makes the darkness flee” reflects the biblical truth that praise is powerful spiritual warfare. In 2 Chronicles 20:22, when Judah began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against their enemies. Praise is not just expression but declaration of God’s authority that pushes back darkness.

“Praise the Lord, oh my soul” echoes Psalm 103:1, which says, “Praise Yahweh, my soul! All that is within me, praise his holy name!” It calls the worshiper to engage their whole being in adoration, acknowledging God’s worthiness regardless of circumstances.

“My anchor holds me and my hope endures” points to Hebrews 6:19, which speaks of hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. This affirms that even amid storms, hope in Christ sustains the believer.

“I’ll sing it for the rugged cross… for the empty grave” affirms the gospel—the death and resurrection of Jesus—as the foundation of Christian praise, supported by 1 Corinthians 15:3–4.
